Canada’s Copa America dream ended in the early hours of Wednesday morning as they were defeated 2-0 by Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Jesse Marsch’s men held their own throughout their run to the semi-finals, and could still come away with something to show for their valiant efforts when they play Uruguay in the third-place play-off at 1 am UK time on Sunday.
Beating the world champions to get to the final was always going to be a difficult task, but the Canadians held their own at times, with Johnston standing out.
Indeed, the 25-year-old’s performance was recognised as one of the best in the semi-finals as he was included in the latest Copa America Team of the Week alongside some superstars such as Messi, Luis Diaz, and Emi Martinez:

Consistent throughout the tournament, Johnston has continued with Canada from where left off at Celtic towards the end of last season.
The former Montreal man was key in the run-in as he put in several standout performances to help the Hoops do the double.
