Having not returned to Celtic for the new campaign until the past few days, Hoops right-back Alistair Johnston watched on as his side caught the eye in pre-season.
The Canadian’s late arrival for 2024/25 is down to his exploits at the Copa America with Canada, where he was named in the competition’s Team of the Tournament.

Johnston stood out on the big stage but still managed to keep an eye on how his club teammates faired in pre-season.
After games in Scotland against Ayr United and Queen’s Park, the Hoops set out for the USA where they were magnificent.
The Bhoys scored 12 goals in emphatic wins over DC United, and English Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea. Watching the games, Johnston was impressed.
“If you watched the way the boys have played, it’s impressive, I was blown away with it”, he said (Sky Sports).
“You can just see that the guys are taking on board exactly what the manager is asking.
“It’s another year under our belt under Brendan and you can see that the ideas are really formulating.”
Johnston likely won’t be in contention for Celtic’s Scottish Premiership opener against Kilmarnock this weekend given he has only recently returned from a lengthy summer.
With time and once he builds up his fitness, though, the 25-year-old will find his way back into the team but for now, Anthony Ralston, who is an ample deputy, will step in.
