The Odsonne Edouard debate has raged on into the evening after the player grabbed the winning goal against Aberdeen.

There’s no doubt what a talent the striker is on his day but some fans are seeing a different side to the Frenchman this season and they’re not overly enamoured.

Using the example at the end of the game where he failed to lay it off to Soro for a certain second goal, many have made the claim Eddy is out for himself this season and it’s not been about the team.

It took the striker a while to get going but he remains our top scorer and can be a game changer on his day. No, we haven’t seen it enough but is the selfish passage of play at the end of Saturday’s game warrant a social media assassination?

Here’s some of the dissenting voices we’ve seen this evening:

Edouard is at the end of his Celtic cycle to coin a phrase from former Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers. The frontman will get a move in the summer and bring the curtain down on his trophy laden Celtic career.

I think, on the whole, we’ll look back at the Frenchman’s time at the club and ultimately be in awe of the sort of player we had.

The sniping we’re seeing right now will be quickly forgotten.

  1. Three years, three bosses. Mr Edd is not even the finished article. If Celtic could build a team around him. He would not be going. Give this pish a rest. If Celtic held on to all their greatest players. They would be bust and playing in the second division.
Be greatful of what you have, as there is no alternative. Mr Edd will be away this summer no doubt about that. For how much, we’ll let the market decide. And yes he will be missed.

  2. Class act but not a team player.
Tries (and usually fails) to take on too many defenders in attempt to show how good he is instead of just putting ball into back of the net.
Celtic would be better served getting hold of a natural finisher who looks interested
