Celtic hosted Ferencvaros on Tuesday and beat them 2-0 with a very convincing performance. Now all eyes switch to Seville today for a 17:45 kick-off between group leaders Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen.

Just to emphasise the task Celtic have on their hands of getting anything from this group, no teams have found the net more in their opening two group games than Real Betis and Leverkusen.

Fekir has been involved in three goals in the Spanish side’s two matches while 18-year-old sensation Florian Wirtz scored in his last five outings in September for Leverkusen, including on Matchdays 1 and 2.

Both sides are tied on six points in Group G, with the Germans occupying the no.1 spot thanks to their superior goal difference. They head into this clash on the back of a 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich at the weekend. Betis on the other hand have won all but one of their last five fixtures making tonights clash a little bit more interesting.

The Hoops had a surreal match day opener against Real Betis in Seville back in September. Celtic went two-nil up inside the first half-hour which had Celtic fans in as much shock as the home crowd. But in pure Celtic away day fashion it only took the home team twenty-five minutes of play to take a 3-2 lead.

Leverkusen battered the Bhoys at Celtic Park 4-0. On another day we could have lost to a more respectable scoreline, that particular game could have finished 6-4 to the Germans with the Celtic forward line guilty of missing some easy chances.

Celtic’s European faith rests as much on this doubleheader as their own last three remaining fixtures. We’ll have more match reactions later on.
