Celtic got off to a winning start in their opening game of the season with a fairly comfortable 2-0 victory over Aberdeen.

There was a real carnival atmosphere around Celtic Park before the game kicked off with the tifo that had been organised by the Green Brigade looking absolutely stunning.

The energy inside Celtic Park was turned up even more when the Scottish Champions got off to a flyer with Stephen Welsh nodding home from a Matt O’Riley corner.

Celtic had plenty of opportunities in the game but the moment that will standout will be the stunning strike from Jota who gave the Dons keeper absolutely no chance between the sticks.

The goal caught the attention of many with the Portuguese winger even being described as a ‘genius’ by Ally McCoist.

“Brilliant, he (Jota) is a player,” said Ally McCoist speaking to talkSPORT.

“I was looking forward to watching Celtic yesterday, and I did, I enjoyed them, I must admit. Jota, you and I talk about him all the time, he’s a genius.”

His strike in the game yesterday was just a snapshot of why Celtic decided to splash the cash on the former Benfica winger.

He made an instant impact last season after arriving so late in the transfer window and will be key to Celtic this season as he can also freely rotate wings with Daizen Maeda.

Those bits of magic are what separates a good player from a brilliant player and he will be hoping to add to his tally this coming weekend as the Hoops head north to take on Ross County on Saturday.
