ALLY MCCOIST has told Talksport Breakfast that Neil Lennon needs to continue what he’s doing in order to land the Celtic job for a second time.

His former touchline rival is in charge of the bhoys for a second spell as interim boss and Ally believes the Irishman just has to forge ahead admitting he was in Lennon’s company not so long ago.

“I was with wee Lenny the week before at a charity thing,” McCoist said on TalkSport as cited by HITC.

“All he can do is keep winning games and that’s what he’s doing. I watched the game against Hibs and I enjoyed it.”

McCoist and Lennon had their famous touchline spat back when Neil was the Celtic manager and McCoist was the Ibrox club’s assistant manager.

They seem to get on better these days, that’s for sure!

Asked if Stevie Clarke should be offered the Celtic job, the former Ibrox man said: That would be an interesting one. I just think Neil can continue to do what he’s doing and that’s winning games. They are certainly going to win the title.”

McCoist splits his time between TV and Radio these days after failing to make the grade as a manager. The former boss famously backed every new Ibrox messiah who came through the door after they had to create a new club and start from the very beginning.

Neil Lennon is hopeful of landing the Celtic job but there are a lot of people he needs to convince he’s the right man. However, there’s only one man’s opinion that matters and his name is Dermot Desmond.
