Ally McCoist Puts Pundit in his Place Defending Celtic

Ally McCoist of all people came to the defence of Celtic after the usual TalkSport suspects tried to get their pound of flesh from Celtic.

Jason Cundy told listeners Celtic had shamed Scottish football with their result against Copenhagen. If you’re wondering why we’re just hearing from him now with our Euro exploits, it’s because his hate for the club means he couldn’t give us Kudos for our results against Lazio and Rennes.

Ally McCoist who is a TalkSport pundit came to the defence of Celtic when Cundy tried to run the club down.

He told talkSPORT : “Of course he’s (Cundy) not right.” AS cited by sunsport.

“Listen, they’ve had a terrible 45 minutes in Europe.

“They’ve had some great results and performances this year.

“To beat Lazio home and away, who are going very, very well in Serie A and are a very good side, it’s a brilliant achievement.

“They weren’t good second-half. I thought defensively they were all over the place.

“[Jozo] Simunovic had a shocker for the first goal. I found it really strange that after getting the equaliser, it’s as if they felt they had to go and win the game in the next six minutes, which clearly they didn’t have to do.

“You could have had 36 minutes to get another goal.

“I just felt immediately after the goal they were completely stretched, completely open.

“I think Neil’s reaction says it all. As disappointed as he was, he didn’t destroy his team because they had a poor 45 minutes which cost them.”

It’s a bad day when Ally McCoist is the adult in the room.

Celtic got what they deserved on the night. The wrong team, injuries, suspensions and individual errors all cost us on the night. The players and the support know this was a missed opportunity.

There’s no getting away from the disappointment but the bhoys must now compartmentalise the defeat and get ready for Sunday. Celtic have a very important Scottish Cup game against St Johnstone, where they could reach the semi-final.
