Former foe, Ally McCoist has wished Neil Lennon all the best with his new job in Cyprus but bemoaned it leaves him with an issue.

McCoist revealed Neil had kept quiet about the move and he now must find a new body for his six aside games on Friday nights.

As quoted by Record Sport, McCoist said “It give us a problem, and I’ll tell you why: we need to find another body for the six-a-sides on a Friday.

“He’s gone there, he’s shown our six-a-side squads on a Friday total contempt. He hasn’t discussed his move to Cyprus with any of the boys at the six-a-side and he’s left us with 11 men.

“Neil, I clearly wish you all the best in Cyprus but I want to know who your replacement is at the six-a-sides!

“In all seriousness, magic. I’m really pleased for him.

“I spoke to him a couple of times – a good few times – and I did say to him, ‘get yourself out the road, get yourself away somewhere in Europe or America, go and enjoy yourself for a couple of years’.

“I’m pleased he’s back in the game and I hope he gets the opportunity to do that.”

Neil was confirmed as the new boss of Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia on Monday and ends his 13-month absence from the game since leaving Celtic.

The Irishman has been looking to get back into football almost since he was axed, but he’s had to be patient and wait for an opportunity.

McCoist and Lennon have clearly become decent friends since their days of opposing one another trackside. The famous bust-up after the Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park is a distant memory at this point.

Neil has been successful at Celtic and did well with Hibs, away from Scottish football, he had a shocking time with Bolton who were in all sorts of financial trouble when he was in charge.

He’ll be looking to rehabilitate his image after the way things ended at Celtic and hopefully with Neil occupied, there will be zero need to come out and talk about last season for quite some time.
