Celtic’s Japanese bhoys will be going to the World Cup this winter after a late showing against Australia.

Daizen Maeda and Kyogo were both out of the squad through fitness issues and injury but Areo Hatate did travel to join up with his country.

Japan beat Australia 2-0 on the day thanks to Kaoru Mitoma scoring late on the 89th and 94th minute.

It means Japan will be going to Qatar and barring any more injuries Kyogo, Maeda and Hatate look set for the World Cup.

Ideguchi isn’t expected to be in the squad when the time comes around. The midfielder is still to make the break through at Celtic and even before that he wasn’t in a position to be called up to the national team.

Our bhoys will have a big stage to play on come December. It means the trio are unlikely to be part of the Ange homecoming tour in November.

Celtic fly out in November during the World Cup break to play in the tournament. There could still be more Celts who can’t make it due to World Cup call-ups.
