Efe Ambrose admits he is still shocked after Neil Lennon ended his 4 year spell at Celtic last week.

The Nigerian defender who was brought to the club by the Irishman admitted he did not see the move coming:

“I was so shocked when I found out the news. I never thought that he would leave. He told us that he wasn’t going anywhere. Neil said he was looking forward to the Champions League with Celtic. It was a surprise to me because everything was fine.”

Lennon played a very positive role in Efe’s development over the past few years and the defender isn’t short of praise for his former managers.

“The gaffer brought me to Scotland and made me who I am today. I owe him so much. The gaffer made me a better player.  I will call him to say thanks for everything. After all he’s done for me, I believe he deserves that respect” said the defender.

Nigeria play Scotland in a Friendly tomorrow night at Craven Cottage where Efe could potentially come up against some of his Celtic teammates.
