CHRIS SUTTON has given his verdict to the first SPFL Glasgow Derby of the season after watching his old club run out 1-0 winners against a new-look Ibrox side.

Sutton who tipped Celtic to win the game was proven right but the big man admitted before the game that The Rangers would be more of a threat.

However, that threat failed to materialise and it was one way traffic.

Speaking about the game Sutton said: ‘That was the definition of an absolute pummelling, wasn’t it?’ he wrote in his Daily Record column.

‘I have to hand it to Celtic – they were impressive throughout, totally dominant.

‘The Hoops hit the woodwork four times so the margin of victory could have been far greater.’

It was Olivier Ntcham’s goal that did the damage but in truth, the bhoys were in charge of the game from the off and never looked in any real danger of conceding.

On another day Celtic would have had more but credit goes to their goalkeeper for keeping them in it for so long even though McGregor should have walked for kicking out at Ajer early in the first half.

The Rangers are licking their wounds this morning after being convinced they were going to beat Celtic on Sunday.

And Let’s not get this mixed up with fans bigging up their side before a massive game. The Ibrox fans genuinely believed they were going to take all three points at Celtic Park.

Let that sink in.
