It was a surprise to see him back in the starting XI against Falkirk on Saturday evening but the inclusion of Leigh Griffiths has sparked more calls for the striker to leave at the end of the season.

The frontman scuffed at a sitter, missed a few other opportunities and looked blown out by the 50-minute mark.

The standard isn’t there for the player to continue to warrant game time. The free-scoring Griff of five years ago is long gone and as we face up to a rebuild it’s hard to see a way back for the striker.

These fans might be harsh but they do have a point.

Celtic will need to find at least one new striker in the summer to get among the goals next season.

There’s no real chance Edouard stays and if Griff has run his race it becomes absolutely critical to get a top scorer into the club.

Easier said than done but the Hoops must make it a priority.

Do you think Leigh can pull this back and play for a new look Celtic next season?

  1. Was a massive Griff fan, but turning up at the start of this season, after players were trusted to keep up their training regimes independently due to Covid-19 restrictions, Professional Players being payed a Kings Ransom a year, to turn up fat, unfit and to insult the pro training staff at CP with BS stats just added insult to injury and showed him up for what he is.
    An unprofessional gadgie.
Talented, yes, but what a waste!
He disrespected everyone at The Club, but mostly, those that pay his wages and truly loved him despite his (social) short comings.
I’m sure he’ll bust a gut for his next club, probably Aberdeen, until he decides he can’t be bothered, but his integrity as a true pro has gone, sadly, for me, and I’m personally gutted about it.
