It was back in early April RecordSport reported Celtic could make an ambitious move for out of contract Everton man Joshua King.

At the time, the potential deal was based on an Eddie Howe link – presuming he is going to be the man in charge next season.

If Celtic and Eddie Howe do want the £9m rated Norwegian [TransferMarkt] then Carlo Ancelotti is giving them every chance to get a deal done.

King has not enjoyed much game time at Goodison this season and rumours are he’s currently weighing up his options.

Speaking to Liverpool Echo, Carlo Ancelotti explained King’s situation and made the admission they’d not talk about any new deal until the season was over.

“In the last few weeks he had a small problem on his back and so was not available to train properly. He was back today after two days off, but his condition is quite good.

“He didn’t have a possibility to play a lot for my technical decision, because there we have a lot of options. He played some part of the games and was good, I have to say.

“In training he’s absolutely ok, really serious and really professional.”

“I think at the end of the season we are going to talk about if he can stay, if he can have a new contract with us or not,” the manager added.

“We have to take a decision at the end of the season.”

King was ever present in the Bournemouth side under Eddie Howe. His move to Everton hasn’t worked out at all.

If Celtic land their number one managerial choice in Howe, you have to imagine a reunion for both in Glasgow could be on the cards.

Landing a 29-year-old striker in his prime with a point to prove after his season at Everton.

It’s a deal I’d like to see Celtic complete.
