Former Celtic striker Andy Walker has confirmed that he will no longer be covering Scottish matches for Sky Sports after 14 years on-screen. However, he expressed his desire to continue covering English matches for the broadcaster.

Walker had been a familiar face in Sky Sports’ coverage of the Scottish Premiership, providing insightful analysis and commentary on matches. But now, there will be a new face in his role for the upcoming season as he bids farewell to Scottish football coverage.

The news comes shortly after pundit Chris Sutton was announced to be joining Sky Sports, lining up beside Fadden and Boyd.

Walker, who has had many controversial opinions while at Sky, confirmed that he’d be leaving the broadcaster on Go Radio Football Show, saying:

“I did sign off last night. That will be my last Sky game in Scotland.

“I’m hoping to retain all the English games that I do.

“But I’ve been there for 14 years and I’ve really enjoyed it. I know we get a bit of stick here and there but I think it’s a truly talented and hard-working team in Scotland.

“And I think whoever gets the gig, I hope they enjoy it as much as I have because it’s been an absolute blast. I’ve really loved it.”

No doubt the Celtic Icon will add a little bit of debate on the broadcaster’s coverage, with many clashes between Sutton and Boyd expected.

A freshen-up was needed in the pundits, and Sutton will give Celtic fans a reason to watch the build-up to matches.

  1. Boring, boring, boring, same old tripe, he says at every game, Thank you God for removing this nonentity from our TVs in Scotland.
Too busy being Mr Neutral, over does every comment, and viewers are left wondering if he is actually at the game.
Probably looking for a job at Ipox. Thanks you SKY!
