AFTER Ange Postecoglou left Yokohama F. Marinos, he recommended his right-hand man, Kevin Muscat, for the job.

In his first full season in charge, he’s led the side to the title. Marinos had the best attacking record and best defensive record in the league, winning it by just two points. Postecoglou’s attacking football has remained with the club, as they promised when he left.

A 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe secured the championship, with Hatate’s former side Kawasaki finishing just two points off the top spot.

It’s the first trophy the side lifted since Ange Postecoglou departed last summer.

It was a special moment for Muscat’s assistant, who was emotional after full-time. Shaun Ontong has recently lost his father and has had a tough time with it.

Postecoglou will have kept a close eye on the J-League this season, eyeing up a few transfers for the upcoming January transfer window. Celtic has already started the business, with reports stating that a deal to bring Yuki Kobayashi has been completed.
