ANGE POSTECOGLOU has refused to make a comment on Yuki Kobayashi as he provided an update ahead of the January transfer window.

Having only entered the month of November, Japanese outlets had reported that a deal to bring the 22-year-old defender to Parkhead was all but complete, and Kobayashi was set for a January transfer.

However, the Celtic boss hasn’t commented on this individual case but did assure that work for the transfer window is ongoing, with targets identified.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times, the Greek-born boss said;

“We have gone early on the January market haven’t we?” he said. “It’s just into November, so I’ve a lot of talking about that ahead.

“As I said before we have a strategy in place which I am really comfortable with in terms of making sure we are always looking to improve our squad and improve the way we do things.

“We take away the experiences we have had at Champions League level and domestic level and try to be better and every window gives you that opportunity.

“We’ve had some plans in place for January for a while now. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will be able to conclude some of that.

“The whole idea is to make this squad stronger for the second half of the year.”

Hopefully, as Ange said, over the next few weeks, we’ll get a clearer picture.

Similarly to last season, new recruits should hopefully refresh the squad as Celtic push to defend their title. New signings will have the opportunity to compete on three fronts, with the League Cup Final pushed to February to accommodate the World Cup.

It’s setting up to be another exciting window for Celtic fans.
