IF games do go ahead as schedule over the next two weeks, Celtic will be without Jota until after the winter break.

The Portuguese star has been out since the Hearts game when he pulled up with a hamstring injury during Celtic’s win against the Edinburgh side.

There was hope he could be back for the Glasgow Derby on January 2nd but Ange has confirmed it’s not going to happen.

CeltsAreHere.com attended the pre-match St Mirren press conference on Tuesday afternoon – Ange told us Jota’s injury was ‘significant’.

Postecoglou said: “Jota’s injury was quite significant, so we don’t think we will see him back out there before the break.”

David Turnbull pulled up during the Cup Final at Hampden on Sunday. The Celtic manager gave us this update:

“Dave was the major one coming out of the Final. We have had the scan, but we haven’t had the results yet.

“He will definitely be out for St Mirren, but I’m not sure how long he will miss.

“Everyone else got through the game okay, but there are one or two minor niggles.

“We will also have to particularly manage Kyogo during this period as he is not 100 per cent.

“I just need to see how he came through the game and look at St Mirren.

“I am not expecting anyone else to miss out and I also don’t expect anyone who was missing to return.”

That would rule out James Forrest from a return against St Mirren if the game does go ahead.

It’s been a trying time for Celtic with regards to injuries. If we’re about to play lockdown football again, it’s not going to be conducive to high intensity football. Celtic players thrive on the fans backing and it could really damage our season.
