Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis was rated 50/50 during the week after the Greek forward missed the weekend game at Easter Road with a mild illness.

Ange did say last week that he would probably be back for tonight’s game against St. Mirren but the Greek striker’s name was missing from tonight’s team sheet once again.

In his pre-match interview, the big Australian was asked for an update on the striker and this is what he told BBC Sportsound.

“Yeah look, he probably could’ve come on the bench, but we’ve got another big game on the weekend. With Albian Ajeti coming back and being available, I think we’ve got enough options off the bench. I’ve given him an extra day to recover and get right for the weekend.”

Albian Ajeti and Kyogo Furuhashi were already missing from the forward line with longer-term injuries and just as Giorgos hit some good form he got struck down with an illness. The main thing now is the Hoops get as many players back as possible for the last ten games or so. Ajeti is back in the squad for tonight.

David Turnbull was said to be ahead of Kyogo in his rehab but both players are still way off a return since their League Cup heroics in Hampden back in December.

Mikey Johnston is also a long term absentee.
