While last season was the stuff of nightmares regarding a certain ten in a row we have always felt at Celtsarehere that not enough weight has been giving to the lack of fans in stadiums or more accurately the lack of Celtic fans.

Celtic has built its worldwide reputation on the back of Celtic fans and what they bring to stadiums and a match day. The list of superstars is long when it comes to past and present footballers who claim Celtic fans are the best they have ever played in front of.

Celtic can not be matched for the atmosphere on a European night, no other club come close. Your ears can literally pop – the noise decibels get so high.

Tonight is set to be a special one at Celtic Park, a sold-out Paradise for a European fixture would be an occasion in itself. The fact that die-hard Celtic fans are returning to the hallowed ground after a 17-month absence will sprinkle all kinds of extra emotion into tonight.

Ange Postecoglou and a few of his new signings might have heard, watched or been told what to expect tonight from the Celtic faithful but the reality is the wall of sound will hit them like a freight train. The big Australian better strap himself in.

He’s already had some people filling him in about a sold-out Celtic Park:

“Everyone I’ve spoken to has told me it’s going to be pretty special, and I’m talking about people who have experienced some pretty unique atmospheres. I can see why. Every week we’ve been getting more and more in and it’s got louder and louder. The energy they bring is brilliant.”

“A full house? I can’t wait.” – Sky Sports

If he can produce attacking football as he did on Saturday against Dundee he can expect a packed-out Celtic Park for every home game. If new signing Kyogo turns out to be the player everyone thinks he is going to be after his home debut you can expect a full house every other week.

I’m still reluctant to show any sense of optimism after last season but it’s underneath simmering away, I’ll keep pushing it down and resisting it until the transfer window closes and we see if the board can deliver some more players.

That been said I can’t wait for tonight and I can’t wait to hear the new managers’ post-match reaction to the best fans in the world.
