CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS has worn the captain’s armband for the last couple of games, with Callum McGregor absent with an injury.

The American defender has been trusted to fill the important role by his manager, despite Joe Hart being the obvious choice to step up temporarily.

Carter-Vickers bring so much to the team, especially the backline. He adds calmness, something that the side missed during his own absence. He’s a rock at the back, with opposition players finding it hard to get past the player.

Heading into the Hibs match, CCV will be looking to lead the team to their first clean sheet since the derby win in September. With the Hoops conceding in their last seven matches.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference for Saturday’s match against Hibs, Postecoglou opened up on why he gave the armband to Cameron but was keen to point out that the team is full of natural leaders. [Celtic TV]

“His composure and calmness is the reason I put him in there.

“Obviously, when you lose someone as influential as Callum, you’re not going to fill that breech with someone who’s a carbon copy of him.

“So, for me, it was important that we had some stability. We’ve already got guys like Joe Hart, who is really vocal and is a leader in his own right. Other guys, like Greg Taylor, are quite vocal in the dressing room, Juranovic too.

“I felt like we needed a different type of leader also; with Cameron, when he’s out there, the lads see him as a leader by the way he plays and goes about his business.

“it was a balancing act of what sort of leadership we needed to get us through this period. With Joe, and a couple of others, providing the vocal aspect with Cam in there would help us, and I think he’s done well.”
