Ange Postecoglou has told the whole squad they get a fresh start this season with him.

Speaking after Celtic beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1 in his first match in charge of the Hoops, Ange was asked about Ajeti and Barkas in-particular and if they have a future at the club.

Speaking to SunSport, the manager replied:

“I’m totally open minded about it.

“Everyone starts with a clean slate. Everyone’s got an opportunity to show what they can do.

“Whatever did happen last year, the important thing is how you react THIS year.

“I don’t measure it in money spent or age or experience.

“To me, it’s just about their attitude and their ability to play the football I want.

“Now it’s an opportunity for ALL of them to embrace what we’re doing.”

Ajeti got on the scoresheet and pulled Celtic level on the day against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Swiss striker and Barkas both had terrible debut seasons under Neil Lennon – but it’s good to see the manager is willing to see what he has within the whole squad.

Ange’s approach to talent and application rather than age or experience is refreshing. Hopefully, a few young players will come to the fore this season for the club.

Neil Lennon’s reluctance to go with youth was frustrating at times. The bhoys in Lennoxtown have not had a fair crack at the whip when it comes to their development and that must change.

If Ajeti and Barkas get a clean slate and the whole squad is getting the same treatment – does that mean Boli Bolingoli could come back into contention?

The left back was sent out on-loan last season after breaking strict lockdown rules and having Celtic’s game postponed.

The defender is in attendance at Celtic’s pre-season training camp.

  1. Few players become flops overnight. A quite word in their ear, a bit of advice and having a tight, close, and productive squad and management team helps.
