Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has delivered an injury update on defender Anthony Ralston.

The league leaders once again extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points after a well earned 2-1 victory over Livingston with goals from Kyogo and an Obileye own goal.

One of the main concerns from the match was when fullback Anthony Ralston had to be substituted off ten minutes after the break to be replaced by Alexandro Bernabei.

The 24-year-old defender had went down on a couple of occasions in the first half but this was just one too many.

As Josip Juranovic is yet to return from the World Cup as he was given a week off, the Scottish champions don’t have any other cover in the position as Stephen Welsh who has played there before is injured along with Alistair Johnston who cannot play for the Hoops until the transfer window opens in January.

It meant that Greg Taylor had to switch across and do the job for the remainder of the match

“I don’t think it affected us too badly. I mean, it was obviously a bit of a challenge for Greg to be on that side but the funny thing is we’ve got three right-backs at the club but unfortunately one’s ineligible, one’s away and one got injured,” said Ange Postecoglou via Celtic TV.

Ralston

“That’s the way things go sometimes but I don’t think that was the reason – we didn’t really take control of the game in the second half and were just a bit anxious about things.

“We’ll see. In terms of Anthony we’ll see how he pulls up, hopefully it’s nothing serious. But, on performance alone, I think there’ll be some changes for sure.”

The Hoops boss didn’t seem too impressed by the showing against Livingston as he is now likely to shake things up going into the weekends fixture against St Johnstone.

There was some bits of play down the right hand side, but Taylor was always looking to get the ball back on to his left foot which put Celtic at a disadvantage.

Until the beginning of 2023, the jersey is practically Ralston’s to lose as he has been a top performer and with it being likely that Juranovic is set to leave, Alistair Johnston has to prove himself.
