ANGE POSTECOGLOU has praised his returning defender Carl Starfelt.

The Swede has been out of action since going off injured in the summer for his country. Carl couldn’t participate in pre-season and has had to work doubly hard to get up to speed in recent weeks.

It paid off on Sunday when the defender came on as a second half sub for Moritz Jenz who had picked up a knock.

Carl was assured on his return and also managed to score his first ever goal for the club in the process.

It was a fantastic moment for the player who has been frustrated not to be involved with Celtic until now.

Speaking about Carl Ange told RecordSport: “I am really pleased for him to get a goal he has been trying really hard. It was probably the ugliest of the five, but probably the most significant! Carl has worked really hard in rehab. He was really frustrated after such a strong season for us last year and then he went away on international duty and got injured and missed pretty much all of the pre-season for us.

“He has worked really hard to get himself back to a position where he is available again. Credit to him, he is a really good pro. He comes in every day and works really hard in training and he’s a really strong team-mate.”

The Celtic manager has cultivated a brilliant dressing room and has fantastic pros helping push the team on.

We saw on Sunday this is a team who ate fighting for one another. Jota’s praise of Greg Taylor live on Sky Sports was a brilliant example of the togetherness currently at the club.

Jota’s face was a picture when Carl did manage to scores, the Portuguese star was delighted for his pal.

Celtic have made it three wins from three in the SPFL and now prepare for their next challenge; Hearts at home on Sunday.
