Ange Postecoglou is holding his breath on the fitness of Mikey Johnston once again after the player went off injured during the win against Raith Rovers on Sunday.

Mikey got a rare start against the lower league side but it would end similarly to many of his Celtic appearances; limping up the tunnel.

The Celtic manager is now waiting to find out what the prognosis will be. Speaking after the game, boss Ange Postecoglou told Football Scotland:

“Mikey Johnston took a knock on his ankle.  I’m not really sure how he is at the moment.”

“The last time I said it wasn’t serious it turned out that it was.”

Mikey isn’t pivotal to Ange’s plans and the game against Raith Rovers was a chance for the winger to show what he could do more than anything. Johnston had an alright game before being subbed off. Jota coming on for Celtic was a game-changer for the team who went from a one-goal lead to a four-goal lead.

Mikey’s body is letting him down when he gets chances in the first team. The wee man will be extremely disheartened and frustrated.

  1. Mike isn’t the only one that’s frustrated. He is getting past the this lad has exceptional talent and just gives the ball away when he has finished playing with it. Must be very frustrating for team mates. Wish him speedy recovery but think he will be gone at the end of the season.
