ANGE POSTECOGLOU has attracted interest from many different quarters in recent times. The Scottish press is all too eager to put out stories linking the Celtic boss with a move away from the Parkhead club.

However, reports in Japan this week have claimed the Japan FA are seriously considering a move for a foreign coach if Hajime Moriyasu leaves at the end of the World Cup campaign and Ange is top of the list to replace him.

Dan Orlowitz posted up one of today’s Nikkan Sports paper in Japan reporting that the former Yokohama boss is highly regarded in Japanese football and they would attempt to persuade Ange to make the move back to the country.

Ange Postecoglou and international football

The Celtic gaffer has done the international scene already with Australia. There’s very little incentive for Ange to move back into that scene.

While Japanese football have a big place in Postecoglou’s heart, leaving European football after just getting here 18 months ago would be seen as a backwards move.

The Celtic manager has also revealed in many interviews he’s more comfortable as a club coach rather than an international boss. The day to day interaction with his players and the constant game time is something the manager thrives on.

We can certainly see why Ange’s name will come up if the Japan job becomes available, but we doubt there’s much to worry about from a Celtic perspective.
