Sead Haksabanovic netted a brace at the weekend as Celtic defeated bottom side Dundee United in a thrilling 4-2 win.

The Montenegrin international failed to have a proper pre-season due to the conflict in Ukraine, meaning he wasn’t completely up to speed when he joined Postecoglou’s side.

He has steadily been increasing his minutes on the park and is looking to improve, with the manager having previously stated that he was a player who would peak during the second part of the season.

Haksabanovic is versatile in his game, with the 23-year-old being used both as a winger and an attacking midfielder.

Getting those first goals in the Hoops will be important to him, with the boss believing he will continue to go from strength to strength in the coming months as Celtic pursue the league title.

“It was good for him,” Ange Postecoglou said as quoted by STV.

“He has been working hard. I think we will see the best of Sead in the second half of the season because he missed pre-season.

“But he has been contributing for us. We watch him in training every day and he has got goals in him for sure.

“He is really creative, a great technical player and that will give him confidence. It was good to see but all our attacking players and substitutes came on and made a difference again and got their goals.”

There is plenty of competition for a place as an attacking player in the current Celtic team with seven players vying for a chance in the starting lineup.

Between them all this season in the league, there has been a total of 35 goals scored, with Haksabanovic being the last of the forwards to get on the scoresheet so far this season.

The break may serve the former Rubin Kazan star well as he will have an opportunity to spend more time on the training pitch with the manager, which he hasn’t had the chance to do recently with so many games coming thick and fast.
