Ange Postecoglou was asked about the Celtic left back situation and who exactly he sees as the team’s first choice left back.

Adam Montgomery has been playing the position a lot in Greg Taylor’s absence but has been benched for Bolingoli and now Juranovic in recent games.

Juranovic is a right back by trade, playing the Croatian out of position when there are three other left back options is peculiar. Ange clearly sees value in Juranovic playing before the rest of his natural left backs.

Liam Scales is still awaiting his first start for Celtic, Adam’s form has been up and down, as you would expect for a player his age and Boli randomly pops in and out of the team.

Asked if Adam was the first choice left-back, the Australian made it clear, nobody was:

As quoted by the Record Sport, The Celtic manager said: “I’d hate to think anyone thinks they’re first choice, especially not a 19-year-old like Adam in his first season.

“We also have Liam Scales and Josip Juranovic is fit again so we have options.”

Fans are desperate to see what Liam Scales can bring to the team but Ange doesn’t believe the Irishman is ready.

It will be very interesting to see how much game time the left-back gets between now and the end of the season.

  1. How the hell is he going to show he is ready, there are dozens of top class players whose manager’s admit show very little in training but perform on the park. We need to start giving a lot more game time to some of these fringe players to see if they can do it.
