REPORTS this week stated that Alistair Johnston would miss the next three or four weeks through injury, after he was spotted in crutches after picking up a knock in the Glasgow Derby.

Ange Postecoglou has near enough confirmed these reports, but has admitted that the Canadian will be monitored on a week-to-week basis, as he looks to make a return before the end of this season.

The manager said that there is a chance that he could make it back in time for the final, but only time will tell.

Speaking ahead of the Hearts clash, where Celtic can wrap up the league, Ange Postecoglou said: [Celtic TV]

“Ali got a significant knock. At the moment, there’s still a chance that he’ll be available before the end of the season. It’ll be a week by week thing, we’ll see how he goes.”

AJ has been a superb addition to the Celtic squad, with many fans believing he’s improved the right-back position previously occupied by Josip Juranovic.

Johnston isn’t afraid of a crunching challenge, he’s solid at the back, and has added something extra to the squad. His miss will be huge, but Tony Ralston will step up to the plate and give it his all for the club.
