Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has provided supporters with the latest injury update, confirming the progress of Yosuke Ideguchi, David Turnbull and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Many fans were impressed with the squad depth that Postecoglou’s Celtic side displayed against Motherwell at the weekend, creating even more excitement at the fact we are still to see three potential key players return.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Ange gave the latest on all three players, confirming that Ideguchi had returned to first-team training but would not be available for Wednesday, whilst also stating that Kyogo and Turnbull are continuing with their rehab work.

The Celtic manager also confirmed that another of his January additions, Johnny Kenny, is now at the stage of training amongst the first team.

“Yosuke is training with the group. He won’t be ready for Wednesday but should be alright for the weekend, which is promising.

He continued: We’re getting to that point (full strength). It’s only been in the last few days.

“We’ve still got Kyogo and David Turnbull to get through their rehab.

“And young Johnny Kenny is getting to a space where he can train with us.

“it’s going to be important; we’re still in three competitions. We want to do well in all three, and we’re going to need a strong squad to get there.”

It has been a somewhat frustrating start to life for the Japanese January signing, after picking up a nasty knock during the Hoops 2-1 victory over Alloa in the Scottish Cup, so it is good to hear that he is nearing a return.

Postecoglou doesn’t like to give a lot away in his interviews, and that trend has continued with the Kyogo and Turnbull latest. So, it could be a matter of weeks before we see those two back training with the first team.

When both do return, it is a scary thought of the depth and quality that this Celtic side will possess, providing every team in the Scottish Premiership with trouble in areas all over the park.
