Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou and his team were given the red carpet treatment as they were welcomed with open arms as pre-season kicked off.

Before the game started, the Australian boss was presented with a special cake which was presented to him.

“I’m starving, I haven’t had a chance to eat it (the cake) yet. They have all been very kind. You come to these places and you understand it is a thrill for them and they want to host you well, so it has been good” said Ange Postecoglou speaking to the Daily Record.

The match was a decent showing for the Hoops with some of the B team players impressing as Johnny Kenny and Rocco Vata got on the scoresheet.

SC Wiener Viktoria weren’t up to much as an opposition but it was important that players got minutes into their legs as the Hoops swept aside their Austrian opponents 7-0.

As international players only just returned to training at the beginning of the week, majority of those who are first team regulars watched on from the stand.

One of the standout players during the game was Japanese international Yosuke Ideguchi.

The midfielder arrived at the Hoops in January but suffered injury after a poor challenge in a Scottish Cup tie with Alloa.

With Nir Bitton departing the club, this could well be Ideguchi’s season and the midfielder did himself no harm last night with an impressive showing.

Saturday will prove to be a much tougher test for Ange Postecoglou’s as they take on Rapid Vienna which will like feature some more first team regulars.
