ANGE POSTECOGLOU has rubbished reports the club are closing in on a deal for PSG midfielder Edouard Michut.

Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports reported Celtic’s interest. The transfer guru going as far as claiming Celtic were in advanced talks over the midfielder.

Speaking after watching his side win 4-2 in the Czech Republic, Ange responded in typical Ange style when asked about the specific Michut link:

The Celtic boss told the Herald: “Multiple? So that adds credibility?”

“If I sat here talking about every player we were linked to every day…we don’t have enough hours.

“We are still working away in the background. We know what we need. We are working with some targets we have. We are in no rush to get it done.

“There is nothing, in terms of players we are being linked to at the moment, that’s going to happen in the near future. Or at all, in some of the cases.

“I have an interest in every good footballer in the world, but there is a limited market I can tap into. There’s no-one I will dismiss but I don’t want to send someone off on a wild goose chase.

“Good player, but no.”

Celtic fans have spent the day online throwing up Michut’s stats and highlights in the hope he could be on his way to Celtic.

Unfortunately, it appears not to be the case at the moment at least. Ange appears to be aware of the player but any talks of an imminent deal or even advanced transfer negotiations is wide of the mark if you believe the manager.

Ange has been straight with the Celtic support when it comes to transfers. He never over promises or looks to string something along. The Australian was straight to the point and quashed a rumour before more news was made of it.

Celtic are in the market for a midfielder and will likely bring someone in before the window closes. Ideally, it will be well in time for the Champions League campaign.

  1. I never spent any time looking up this French players stats , trying to get his credentials. If we actually signed him then I’m sure we’d find out all about him but a lot of supporters don’t have time to look up all that nonsense.
