ANGE POSTECOGLOU has made it clear again he’s not worried about his coaching staff or bringing in his own assistant at this point.

What does concern him is the lack of staff to help the players adjust to his style of football.

The manager was clear the Hoops need to hire a setup behind the scenes so the team can cope with what they’re being asked.

The club are looking for a sports scientist to help facilitate Ange’s vision so they team can play to their full potential throughout the season.

“People have asked me about bringing my own people in. Well, it’s not the coaching area that I think we need that extra support in.” Postecoglou told The Scotsman.

“I think the areas we need are particularly in the conditioning area and the sports science area, we need some more people in to help us. It’s going to be a punishing schedule.

“I’m a big believer in needing to manage your squad of players through that period if you want to play the kind of football we want to play, be a team that plays high intensity, pressurises the opposition and really wants to move the ball quickly then that takes a physical toll.

“So, looking after the players off the field is really important. And certainly we’re looking to bring in people who will help us in those areas.”

Celtic are desperately trying to modernise. If Ange came straight into the club after Brendan Rodgers left – there would have been a better infrastructure or at least obvious gaps from who Rodgers took with him.

Peter Lawwell under Neil Lennon has clearly decided not to fill certain positions and Neil has gone along with it.

Ange wants us to act like a big club and have the staff on hand to facilitate that. It’s going to be a tough ask to pull us up from our current situation but the fans are behind the manager.

  1. It doesn’t matter how much conditioning you do you can’t fit square pegs into round holes and half our players won’t be capable of playing this system.
