The Bhoys already have the League Cup in their trophy cabinet, and are one game away from completing a domestic treble by winning the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle next month.

The side has come on leaps and bounds since last season, when they didn’t get to the top of the league until February. This season, they haven’t budged from the top spot, leading second place by 13 points.

Postecoglou is seeking improvement from the players, pointing out that many are still young and will be looking to continue their development in the game.

Speaking via Celtic TV, the manager gave the Celtic support a promising message, which will have many fans excited for next season already.

“A lot of our players are still at the beginnings of their careers – they need to improve.

“Our job is to get them to improve, so there is another challenge there where we can improve performances.

“We had a great year last year, winning the double and becoming champions, but I really feel that this year we are a stronger team than we were 12 months ago and that has always got to be our measure,” the Australian said.

“If you stand still at any time, whether it is this league or any league in the world, you know there is always the potential somebody could overtake you if you repeat the performance of last year.

“But I think the team has grown this year. I think we have definitely got a stronger squad than last year. I think our performances have been a lot more consistent and compelling for the most part.

“There have been areas where we have made enormous improvements this year, but I still think we can improve next year – the attacking side, the defensive side.”
