ANGE POSTECOGLOU has praised Daizen Maeda’s mindset after he starred in Celtic’s final match of the year.

28th December 2022; Easter Road, Edinburgh, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Hibernian versus Celtic; Daizen Maeda of Celtic celebrates with his team mats after he makes it 2-0 to Celtic in the 36th minute

The Japanese forward played out on the wing, a position he’s commonly played for Ange since his move to Scotland. He got on the scoresheet tonight, scoring from a peach of a shot, but should’ve had his name on there a couple of more times.

He’s faced a lot of doubters this season, but Ange Postecoglou has never lost faith in the player he had at Yokohama F. Marinos and has stuck by him even when he wasn’t hitting the back of the net.

He’s a workhorse, and works his socks off for the team every week, and has come over some hurdles this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Postecoglou was singing Maeda’s praises, saying:

“He does it every week. Sometimes people don’t see the work he does and what he offers us in his ability to cause the opposition problems. He’s got such a strong mindset.”

Maeda was the only Celtic player to hit the back of the net at the World Cup, something that will boost his confidence greatly.

He’ll be in contention for a start at Ibrox, with his defensive attributes a unique benefit for the player.
