ANGE POSTECOGLOU has given an update on Karamoko Dembele and where he’s at in his recovery from injury.

The winger has been out since pre-season when he was subject to a rash tackle in a pre-season friendly.

Karamoko had to undergo surgery and has been in recovery since the summer. Asked about when he expects the youngster to be back, the Celtic manager believes he should begin training with the group next week – all going well.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Ange said: “He’s [Karamoko] had a couple of little setbacks, we’re thinking maybe next week he’ll start training with the group.

“Obviously, he’s one who has had a lot of injuries and disruptions in the first half of the season, we’ll just give him a chance to get himself fit.”

Karamoko is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to talk to other clubs as we speak. Given his time out and the fact we’re nearly into February, there’s a scenario where Karamoko doesn’t play for Celtic again.

It’s been a disappointing period, Celtic fans wanted to see what this lad could do in pre-season and beyond when Ange came in this summer. A bad injury halted any progress the winger could’ve made this season.

Dembele’s Celtic career could fizzle out and he may look to continue his football elsewhere.
