Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi following his contributions in today’s Glasgow derby.

The Japanese bagged a brace as he helped the Hoops to a hugely significant 3-2 triumph which moved the Bhoys 12 points clear at the top of the table.

After the match, Postecoglou was full of praise for the tremendous Kyogo (Glasgow Times):

“He wants that responsibility to rise to the occasion. He wants to be the person who delivers and he did it again today.”

Kyogo certainly proved his worth and capabilities in this afternoon’s match, Ange adding how amazing he has been since he made the move to Glasgow from Japan:

“From the moment this guy arrived he’s been outstanding.

“In ever game he plays, he’s a threat. If he doesn’t score goals, he works so hard for the team. He delivers in the big games.”

Kyogo assuredly delivered for Celtic and Postecoglou this afternoon and it is testament to the performance levels of the Japanese that he has been singled out for praise by his manager as this is something that does not often happen to any player.

However when you take into account that Kyogo was the first player Ange wanted to sign for Celtic when he became manager, we can see why he lauds the striker so much.

Moreover, the Australian also spoke about the traits Kyogo brings as a human being and not just as a footballer:

“I knew what he had to bring, not just as a player but as a person. He’s outstanding.”

Postecoglou then jokingly quipped that he’s happy not many are noticing Kyogo:

“The positive thing is that people don’t pump him up too much. If they do, other people might notice.”

Celtic fans will be continually hoping no other teams notice Kyogo’s immense Celtic performances and that he stays at the club for the foreseeable.
