Ange Postecoglou has been keen to stress Callum McGregor is out injured and he currently doesn’t know how long for.

Why is this potentially good news for Celtic?

If the club doctors believed Callum’s injury was as bad as first feared we’d be getting wind of the player awaiting scan results.

As it stands, the manager hasn’t said his captain has had to undergo any sort of procedure to diagnose him.

It would point to McGregor not having a fractured cheekbone that would leave him out of action for 4-6 weeks. Instead, it could be as simple as bruising and soreness.

It’s clear Callum had his bell rung and was concussed as a result of the challenge. It would mean he’s certainly going to miss the Hearts tie but all bets are off after this, unless Ange tells us otherwise.

Celtic are in a pivotal moment in the season where they need to call on all of their resources to try and mount a title challenge.

If they can get the win against Hearts without Callum, it will certainly give this group a confidence boost.
