Going into Thursday night’s opening group stage game against Real Betis, Ange Postecoglou has a decision on his hands.

At one stage, not many would have expected Anthony Ralston to be in with a shout of starting away in Spain against the La Liga side. However, his rejuvenation under Postecoglou has proved the 56-year old with a decision to make.

After a slight injury, the Scottish full-back missed the Hoops 3-0 win over Ross County at the weekend. This gave new recruit Josip Juranovic the chance to make his home debut.

With Ralston set to return to the squad this week, it will certainly be interesting to see who Postecoglou decides to go with in this fixture.

It would be a good indication of the improvement in Ralston’s performances and whether he can take that step-up to Europa League group stage football.

One positive is, in a position, we thought we would be struggling in before the start of the season, we now look to have two good options in that area of the pitch.
