FANS got behind Ange Postecoglou when he was appointed last summer.

After the Eddie Howe deal fell through, and the agreement in principle went out the window, Celtic gambled and brought an unknown manager to Glasgow.

The board got lucky and appointed a world-class manager.

Despite not knowing too much about their incoming boss, fans backed their man. They researched what he had achieved in his career and were impressed with what he had done.

He was tasked with a massive job at Celtic. The Parkhead club had just finished a trophyless season, giving up ten in a row, they sat 25 points off the top spot.

After a tricky pre-season and a shaky start to the league, Postecoglou got Celtic back on track and won his first piece of silverware as Celtic manager in December.

He would then take his team to the top of the table, where they have remained ever since, with a wi over The Rangers at home.

With it likely Celtic will win the league, Postecoglou is glad he delivered what he set out to achieve in his first season, telling fans via Celtic TV;

“It’s everything [being welcomed to Celtic with open arms]. I consistently talk to the players, and I want it [to win the league] for them and the staff because I know how enormous a challenge it was this year for them to get us to this position.

“But ultimately, everything we do is for our supporters.

“As I always say, after we’re long gone, they’re still going to be here, they’re still going to be supporting, and you want to give them the special moments, the success. You know that once the season is over, and we’ve achieved the ultimate and won the league, their summer is going to look a hell of a lot different than it did last summer and that’s what we want, that’s what we want to achieve.”
