Ange Postecoglou has set the record straight after Celtic dropped two vital points in Paisley on Wednesday nights.

The bhoys looked out of ideas after the first half and although they continued to press – there was no answer to St Mirren’s resolute low block.

Celtic we’re badly depleted with injury call-offs and a suspension to Carl Starfelt. There was hope Kyogo would be in the squad at least since he made the cup final appearance on Sunday, but it wasn’t to be.

This led to many pundits claiming Ange has rested some of his players after the cup final. Joe Hart was another absentee from the squad.

The Celtic gaffer wasn’t having it when there was claims he intentionally rested players and used his fringe bhoys to try and get the win.

Speaking to BBC Scotland live radio on Wednesday night, post match, Ange had this to say:

“All of them were unavailable. No-one was rested tonight. I don’t know where that came from, I don’t rest players. If they want a rest they can have a rest when they are 45.

“Everyone who wasn’t playing tonight was unavailable – either suspended or injured.”

Celtic have let two vital points slip through their fingers and with the injury ravaged squad at the moment the winter break can’t come soon enough.

If Kyogo is anywhere near fit for Boxing Day against St Johnstone, I hope we see him in the squad.

  1. You just know St Johnstone cant keep losing and if we put out a similar team on Sunday then I fear the worst.
Abada & Johnston shouldnt be in the team even if we are struggling for players.
Surely there have to be better academy players, and if not, then our youth set up just isn’t up to scratch

  2. Well how to put it mildly, were St Helen Mirrens defenders tonight better than the Celtic atttack? The answer is a rhetorical one. What way do you think St Jonnie will set up?
Yes six goalies five defenders. And the ref will ok all of them boot Celtic up and down the park .

Celtic need either faster thinking players or stronger ones. No escaping that fact.

  3. celtic are a shambles the size of there club and cant play a striker that team is too light weight too win any title and there defence is a shambles too cant defend cross balls they are all over the place
