It’s up to his players to put themselves forward for some game time, stating he doesn’t just hand it out. Players must impress the manager on the training pitch to be in with a chance to get some minutes on the pitch.

With competition for places high, players can’t afford to slack off. Otherwise, they’ll lose their spot in the team, meaning the players have to be on it every single day.

Speaking ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against Championship side Morton, Ange Postecoglou shut down the idea of fielding a rotated team, claiming he had his eye on a wain and pointing to the fact it’s not something he often does.

He said: [Celtic TV]

“Tomorrow is an opportunity to win a game of football, and that’s what we’re going to try and do. I’m going to pick a team that does that.

“We haven’t gone into any game rarely unchanged from the week before anyway.

‘Game time is earned, not given. The beauty of it is that everyone who’s getting an opportunity is taking it and doing really well.

‘The selection tomorrow will be based around one thing, and that’s to progress in the cup, and we’ll put a lineup out that we believe can do that.”

It’ll be interesting to see what sort of squad Postecoglou fields on Saturday, with some changes expected and possible debuts to be given.
