Ange Postecoglou has claimed that Celtic winger James Forrest is in the best condition he has been in since the 56-year old arrived at Parkhead.

Over the past 18 months, Forrest has had to deal with a host of injury issues that have also seen him miss out on a majority of games at the beginning of the Postecoglou era.

However, the 30-year old academy graduate appears to be finally getting up to speed once again, as Postecoglou stated that he is at a ‘really good level’ in terms of fitness after two weeks of further training during the international break.

“James is going well; he’s had a good two weeks of training. He’s at really good levels now. Without pre-empting anything, knock on wood, he’s trained really well,” Ange said, speaking to the media and on Celtic TV

“He’s probably in the best condition he’s been since I got here. I’m very pleased because I’ve been really keen to get him involved.”

James Forrest is a player, who has had an incredible impact on the side for several seasons, and his numbers at the club don’t lie when it comes to showing the influence he can have.

So, having the experienced winger back fit and firing will come as a massive boost to Postecoglou and his squad.

Since joining this summer, Liel Abada has been an excellent inclusion and, at just 20-years old, should be for years to come. However, it will help to have further options to turn to, especially experienced players like Forrest.

  1. Having Jamsie back and in top fitness is probably one of the best bits of news we can get. On form he is a player that can create moments of mesmerising brilliance. I admit I’m a big fan of the lad, I feel he has now got a great manager to showcase his talent, and another level is coming up.
