Ange Postecoglou did what most fans expected him to do tonight when he named an alternate starting eleven for a nothing game against Real Betis in the Europa League. Both teams already knew their faith before a ball was kicked tonight.
With the number of games Celtic have to play in December and the number of injuries currently in the squad this was a no brainer. Celtic also have a cup final to play this month so most fans were happy to see what fringe players had to offer.
Stephen Welsh gave the Hoops an early lead tonight from a corner to make it 1-0. Just before half-time, Ajeti did well to put the keeper under pressure and nearly got rewarded with a goal but instead got what looked like a hamstring injury for his troubles instead.
With no real first-teamers starting tonight Kyogo coming on for Ajeti is a major gamble from the Celtic manager. Granted, there is not really a like for like substitution on the bench but if anything was to happen to Kyogo in a meaningless game tonight it would be a disaster.
The way Celtic’s luck is going at the moment you better cross your fingers for the second half.
