Celtic are on the brink of losing 16-year-old talent AJ Doyle to Derby County, as reported by The Athletic.
Doyle, who has shown promise within Celtic’s youth ranks and has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels, has reportedly agreed to a deal that will see him move to the English Championship club.
The once goalkeeper now plays outfield in defence.
This transfer is part of a continuing trend of young talents leaving Celtic for opportunities in England, with notable recent departures including Ben Doak, Vincent Angelini, Aidan Borland, Liam Hughes, and Josh Adam.
As for Doyle, he’ll now look to impress in the Rams’ academy and look to find a pathway into the first team, something which isn’t so clear at Celtic. However, the club are looking to change, appointing Darren O’Dea to the position of Professional Player Pathway Manager.
Derby Country was promoted back to the Championship for next season, after finishing second last term.
