CELTIC parted ways with their second player in a week by announcing Sam Wardrop had left the club to sign a two-year deal with Dundee United.

This news comes just days after Erik Sviatchenko made the permanent move to Denmark freeing up more space in the squad.

While Sam wasn’t a first team star – the move signals the intent to clear out anybody Brendan Rodgers feels isn’t in his plans going forward at first team and youth level.

The Irishman spoke last week about some players not being able to play to the intensity he would like and has let Peter Lawwell know what stars he’s happy to part with this summer.

Sam came through the Celtic youth academy but hasn’t done enough to make the grade at Celtic Park.

This is by no means a bad move in the 20-year-old’s career. Andy Robertson got his big break at Tannadice once upon a time.

We wish him all the best.
