Anthony Ralston Addresses VAR

Celtic defender Anthony Ralston has insisted that VAR will not disrupt Celtic’s title charge as the Hoops extended their lead at the top of table on Saturday.

The Hoops were well worth of the 4-3 victory at Tynecastle on Saturday but the game was disrupted for a number of times as referee Nick Walsh halted the game for more than eight minutes throughout for potential checks.

VAR became theatrical on Saturday as the new technology made its debut this weekend with potential question marks around some decisions.

One of the main elements of Postecoglou’s side since his arrival last year is to be quick off the mark to try and catch teams off guard if they aren’t fully alert.

The phrase ‘We Never Stop’ has been replicated in Celtic’s play but that can be very difficult when there is so much disruption to the match.

“Everything to do with VAR is outside noise to us, we’re just about focusing on the task at hand,” said Anthony Ralston speaking to the Scottish Sun.

“The game never stops in our eyes, and that’s always a clear message we’ve got as a team — to keep going and to come away with nothing but the win.

“When the the ball goes out for a throw-in, a corner, a VAR stoppage, whatever it may be, we just stay 100 per cent committed and focused at all times.

“The stoppages while they make decisions don’t affect me.

“And I think I can speak on behalf of the boys and say it won’t affect them either.

“Yes, we’re going to have to adapt, because it’s in the game now and that’s not going to change.

“But I don’t see it affecting us at all.”

This group of Celtic players have been over the course and know exactly what it takes to win a league title.

They showed huge resilience and character in the win at Tynecastle as they fought back after going behind to win the game 4-3 with unlikely goalscorer Greg Taylor grabbing the winner.

Postecoglou once again made several changes going into the match and will be just as pleased with the progress which his squad is making with seamless transition between players.
