Anthony Ralston bring left out of the Scotland squad, despite being very much in form for Celtic has been a real head scratcher.

The defender has come from nowhere this season and continues to prove people wrong.

When the Scotland squad came out a few weeks back, we were certain Anthony would get the nod, but it wasn’t to be.

Nathan Patterson started as the countries right back against Moldova on Friday night, and to be fair to the young lad, he played a blinder. Patterson scored and assisted for Scotland as they ran out 2-0 winners against Moldova away from home – securing a playoff place.

However, Nathan picked up a yellow card during the game which now rules him out of the Denmark game at Hampden.

Steve Clarke now had the opportunity to hand Anthony a late call up to the squad if he wishes. Clarke has until Sunday to make the decision. Stephen O’Donnell will most likely get the nod but having Anthony there as a back up and to be around the squad would be great for the defender and Scotland.

Will Clarke finally pull the trigger?

We spoke to Darren O’Dea about Anthony’s breakthrough this season and the Irishman had nothing but praise for the defender.

Some Celtic fans will be screaming to leave their players at home to keep them free from injury, but Ralston deserves a call up.
