Former Rangers and Scotland manager Alex McLeish has said he remains unconvinced by £5 million strikers, Albian Ajeti.

As reported by the Daily Record, McLeish has claimed that the Swiss hitman has failed to ‘hit the ground running’ at the Scottish Champions.

Ajeti could come good and flourish. He’s not hit the ground running and when you go to Rangers and Celtic you’re expected to hit the ground running.

“A lot of the guys that come into the British league take time to adapt. I know time is against you when you’re an Old Firm manager but I think there’s got to be more to Ajeti than we’ve seen so far, no doubt about it, there’s more to come from him.”

Ajeti started brilliantly in Glasgow, scoring five goals in his first six, Scottish Premiership games. Since then though he has struggled a little with an injury.

He recently made his return to the side and is getting back up to speed, to try and get back to the level of form we have seen from him at the beginning.

The 23-year old undoubtedly has the ability and looks like he will be a top goalscorer here. Last night he looked more like himself and played a part in the first Celtic goal, setting it up for Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Hopefully, this is the start of a good run for Ajeti. If not though, the good thing is, we have several quality strikers who can take his place if he is not at the top of his game.

  1. Sorry, the old bonker is dribbling out the side of his mouth. He’s old school, and to be honest, who listens to him or even cares what he says. Anti everything in Green + white.
So Alex how’s moreorless performing….. what about him then. NUTHIN! of course, he has plenty to say about the Champions and one, in particular, Ajeti. Why cause we are in his head. He can’t survive without us in hid bonce. Have another half, Mcfailure
