For months we’ve heard about many clubs tracking our sensational young left back Kieran Tierney.

One club that’s continually mentioned is Arsenal. It’s no secret Arsenal scouts have been at Celtic Park not only to scout the man of the moment Moussa Dembele but to look at Kieran Tierney who has been earning rave reviews outside Scotland.

Like all scouts, they will be scouting a player, assessing his upside and picking out his weaknesses as it pertains to their own setup. However, I’m confident they will not be scouting the man himself.

Call it ignorance or arrogance but clubs down south like Arsenal pretty much think they have the pick of the best young talent. There’s certainly some truth to that, gone are the days where players have an allegiance to the club that brought them through and gone are the days where many clubs would fight to keep the players brought through. For both parties, it’s usually about the bottom line – How much money can be made rather than how good this player that you’ve trained could turn out to be.

This is why we could probably afford the Arsenal and any other clubs scout for that matter for thinking should they come calling for the Celtic left back it would just be a matter of the right number to get him out of his Celtic jersey and into their own.

Call me naive if you like but I just don’t see it happening anytime soon. Kieran Tierney is enjoying a fantastic season and is part of a special Brendan Rodgers team who are at least onto a double with a treble a very definite possibility.

I’m not going to presume to know what the young lad is thinking but given his background, his passionate support for the club he’s currently playing for and the adulation from a support he once sat beside – it’s very difficult to foresee the defender’s Celtic exit no matter what clubs comes in.

This isn’t to say he will spend his whole career at the club, I’m not THAT naive. There may come a time when the defender feels he wants to move on and try a new challenge. For now, Kieran is at the very beginning of his journey. Riding the Celtic wave for all it’s worth and hoping to help make history with ten in a row.

That’s why I think Arsenal scouts are wasting their time when it comes to the Scottish left back. They may think they hold all the cards but any club that wants to pry him away from Celtic in the summer should simply heed the message:

‘Kieran Tierney, he’s one of our own’.
