ARSENAL legend Nigel Winterburn has questioned whether Kieran Tierney would be able to make the step up to the Premier League should his former club eventually put their hands in their pocket.

Arsenal have been chasing the defender all summer with a large amount of Gunner fans desperate to see the move happen but Nigel isn’t so sure.

He is talking about the player even though we’re confident he’s probably not even seen Kieran play a full 90 minutes and is simply going on the old EPL snobbery when it comes to the SPFL.

Winterburn did say people who do know the player think he’d be a great acquisition but he couldn’t personally comment on it after personally commenting on it!

“Celtic have enjoyed some Champions League football but in the league they’ve been dominant and so how much has he been challenged? Winterburn told the DailyStar.

“Also, can he take that step up into the Premier League? There is always a doubt of course no matter who the player is but from what I’m hearing they’re suggesting he’ll be a good acquisition.

“It will be interesting to see if by the end of the transfer window Tierney has come in because they’ve still got two players who could play in that position.

“Interest in him makes me think though that Emery wants a back four and to have someone who is more athletic in that area.”

Celtic have REJECTED two bids for the player which hasn’t met their valuation of Kieran to date. There has been so much talk of the deal in the media but there’s not much else to talk about until Arsenal decide to match that valuation.

The left-back is still out injured at the moment and is due back in the next month or so, all going well.

  1. If it was not for big TV Media money then Arsenal could not afford KT at £25 million and you know what he would still be worth £25 million pay up or move on now ex players having there Disrespectful say about KT and Celtic and the Scottish League players he KT is a top player it is Arsenal loss and Celtics gain,so if your so big a club then pay the price the world of football is talking and watching and LOL at how skint and cheap Arsenal are………………….

  2. His parents named him Nigel, enough said
Guy’s never seen KT in action
Go away Nigel, your tea’s oot

  3. I rather think Celtic fans and hired pundits have been very disrespectful of Arsenal in the ensuing transfer saga of Tierney. It’s the season for player negotiations and transfers, yet the fans and pundits make it sound like a buying club should just pay the asking price without questions. Here’s the thing. It is about valuation of the asset by both buyer and seller, till there is a middle point. It took Liverpool ages to close the Virgil van Djik deal; United are still haggling with Leicester over Harry McGuire, but somehow, Arsenal are cheap because we have agreed the exact amount (£25m) that Celtic have asked, only differing with mode/frequency of payments. How is that being “skint and cheap” in any world? Look, it is true the player is young and not yet proven in a bigger league (sorry, but no disrespect, honest), is injury prone (may be why Arsenal want him. Lol) and will have a lot to learn from the new company he will start to keep.
One thing is for sure, the player’s head is turned and if Arsenal really do want him (frankly, I am not sure either), he will be an Arsenal player before the window shuts and you guys can gloat about how you held out (a lot of talking is going on in the background, behind the scenes by the way) till Arsenal paid up.

  4. Winterburn was a superb full back in his day but unfortunately that doesn’t mean he is qualified to talk about a player he hasn’t seen. If he had just said that and nothing else then he wouldn’t have been put in print and created click bait for supporters to get indignant about, and as for being tight fisted….well they’re just trying to drive a bargain.
Take it from an Arsenal supporter. We will be thrilled if we get him
